A Message to Pets & Owners Visiting Happy Pet Spa:

Dogs socialize with each other in our facility. Sometimes, dogs can have parasites and/or health issues that have an incubation period and aren't immediately visible or noticeable but are contagious. As such, it's possible that neither the owners of the pet, nor the staff at Happy Pet Spa are aware of the existence of the illness/parasite.

We clean and disinfect our facility daily, however, the best way to make sure your dog doesn't catch anything is to make sure it has been fully vaccinated and had the necessary preventative medications, including, but not limited to: Bordetella (semiannual intranasal vaccine); Advantix or Revolution for fleas, ticks and lice (monthly topical solution); and Frontline for heartworm and mites (monthly oral medication). You can obtain these medications from your vet.

Sometimes, even with these safeguards in place (eg Bordetella aka Kennel Cough), your dog can still catch a virus. Just like human flu, vaccination against the virus only eliminates certain strains. Check with your vet for more information on common dog illnesses and how to prevent them.

It is worth mentioning that we have six resident dogs who are here every day, and have not caught any of the above illnesses due to effective prevention practices employed by our staff.
